Drug Dealer's Parked Car Reeked of Marijuana, Police Say

Alex Pardon, 25, of Scotch Plains, faces drug possession and distribution charges after his car was found unattended in Westfield.

An alleged drug dealer from Scotch Plains was busted earlier this month after a strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from his parked vehicle, Westfield Police said.

Westfield Police identified Alex Pardon, 25, as the owner of the vehicle and he refused consent to search the vehicle, Westfield police reported. Officers retrieved a search warrant the following day to investigate the unattended vehicle in the 1100 block of West South Avenue. Officers discovered more than 50 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle, Westfield police reported.

Pardon was charged on Oct. 2 with possession of more than 50 grams of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a prescription legend drug, possession of a prescription legend drug with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was arrested and processed at the Westfield Police Department with bail set at $7,500 with no 10 percent option. Pardon posted bail and was released.
