Juvenile Drug Arrests, Suspected Marijuana Found on Lawn & Town Hall Lot

Several drug related police reports in last week.

Westfield police responded to several drug related calls in the last week, including arresting two juveniles on drug charges on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, police received a report that four suspicious males were seen entering the backyard of a residence on the 400 block of West Broad Street. Upon arriving on the scene, officers found the four juveniles.

A further investigation determined that a juvenile male from Cranford was in possession of marijuana and a juvenile male from Westfield was in possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were arrested and charged with the respected crimes. The remaining two juvenile males were taken into protective custody by the police at the scene and have not been charged with crimes.

All four juveniles were released into the custody of their parents.

On the morning of March 25, police received two calls about suspected marijuana bags being found around town, including in the parking lot of the Municipal Building.

At 9:40 a.m., the police responded to a report from a resident of the 700 block of Prospect Street. The resident reported finding a small empty plastic bag of suspected marijuana on their lawn. Police responded and secured the bag for further examination.

At 9:46 a.m., the police responded to a report that a small plastic bag of suspected marijuana was found in the parking lot of the Municipal Building on East Broad Street. The police responded to the parking lot of their headquarters and secured the bag for further examination.

It is not known if the two plastic bags are connected. Both remain under investigation by the police.
