Jersey Central Reports 127,000 Without Power in North Jersey

Utility said it could take several days to restore all power.

Over a hundred thousand Jersey Central Power and Light customers across northern New Jersey were without power Sunday due to Hurricane Irene.

JCP&L spokesman Ron Morano said that the outages all across the power company’s service area throughout the northern part of the Garden State, including in Springfield and Summit., have impacted 127,000 customers. He said that he did not have specifics in terms of how many JCP&L customers are without power on a county-by-county basis.

Morano said the outages have been caused by utility polls falling, along with trees and tree limbs falling on to power lines, along with equipment damage caused by the flooding.
