Homes Burglarized in Westfield Over Labor Day Weekend

The back doors of two homes were smashed and rooms ransacked on Sunday.

The back door of two homes were broken or smashed during a pair of burglaries last weekend, Westfield Police said.

A resident in the 1100 block of Lawrence Avenue reported a burglary occurred sometime between the hours of 3:30 p.m. and about 9 p.m. Sunday and a resident in the 1100 block of Minisink Way reported a burglary occurred at that residence sometime between 9 a.m. and 10:50 p.m., police said.

When the Lawrence Avenue residents arrived home, they observed the rear door was broken and the window was smashed, police said. Several rooms were ransacked, but it was not immediately known what was taken, police said.

The Minisink Way residents came home and found the sliding door smashed, according to police reports. Several rooms were ransacked and jewelry appeared missing, the homeowner told police.
