Driver Flown to Hospital After Springfield Avenue Crash

A second helicopter also landed Friday in Tamaques Park for an incident in Clark.

A 68-year-old Newark woman was airlifted Friday after crashing her vehicle into a tree on Springfield Avenue, Westfield Police said.

The accident occurred on the 500 block of Springfield Avenue and the critically injured driver was flown from Gumpert Field to a trauma center in New Brunswick at about 5:30 p.m. Friday, according to Police Chief David Wayman.

The accident is still under investigation.

Also on Friday, a helicopter landed in Tamaques Park for a construction worker who was injured in Clark, according to Wayman.
