Four Burglaries in Last Week

One burglar snuck in second floor window and one house burglarized when resident left door unlocked while on vacation.

Police responded to four burglaries in town over the last week, including one case where a burglar appears to have entered the house through an open second floor window.

On Sept. 3, a resident of Charles Street reported a burglary to the residence. An investigation revealed that the that the burglar reportedly entered the residence through an open window on the second floor. A prescription medicine bottle was stolen from the residence. No other items appeared to be missing from the home.

Two burglaries were reported on Sept. 4. A resident of the 1400 block of Grandview Avenue reported a burglary after the screen to the back door had been cut open and entry obtained through the back door. The house appeared to be rummaged through and nothing appeared to be missing. A special police officer reported that the tool storage shed at Tamaques Park was pried open. An investigation has not determined if any tools are missing from the shed.

On Sept. 6, a resident on the 200 block of Twin Oaks Terrace reported a burglary to there house after they returned from vacation. The burglar appeared to have obtained entry to house while the owner was on vacation and a door was unlocked. It is does not appear that anything was stolen from the home.

These burglaries follow a string of burglaries over the summer, which led to the police conducting a prevention workshop in the Shadowlawn neighborhood. Last month, Union County Prosecutor Theodore Romankow announced that his office had determined a pattern in a series of burglaries in western Union County, including several in the Lawrence Avenue neighborhood earlier this year.
