Fire Department Contains Westfield Avenue Fire to Basement

The fire occurred on the afternoon of Jan. 4.

The Westfield Fire Department was able to contain and quickly extinguish the fire at 686 Westfield Avenue on the afternoon of Jan. 4, according to officials.

Once the department arrived on scene at approximately 1:58 p.m., they were able to contain the fire in the area of an oil burner located in the basement within 15 minutes, Chief Dan Kelly told The Alternative Press.

“It was determined that it was accidental in nature,” Kelly said to The Alternative Press.

A resident was in the home at the time of the fire and was treated on scene by the Westfield Rescue Squad and then released, he added.

Chief Dan Kelly did not respond to Patch at the time of publication.
