County Officials Encourage Residents to Sign Up with UC First Alert System

By text or email, the system can alert residents in an emergency situation.

If you haven't already signed up for the Union County First Alert System, you should to play it safe, said officials with the Union County Board of Freeholders and the Office of Emergency Management.

With winter fast approaching, they are encouraging county residents to sign up with the UC FIRST ALERT Emergency Notification System.

The UC FIRST ALERT allows Union County emergency management officials to quickly deliver messages to targeted areas or the entire county and alert residents during emergency situations, officials said in a release.

The messaging can be done either by text message or email.  The system can also be used to notify residents about special events, traffic issues and other items, if the signer desires. The UC FIRST ALERT system is offered as an opt-in service to residents and as a shared service to municipalities.
