Burglary Last Week on First Street

Jewelry stolen from home.

A burglary was reported to Westfield police on Oct. 27 by a resident of the 700 block of First Street. The resident reported that the burglary and theft had occurred between 8:35 a.m. and 6:53 p.m. that day. Jewelry and miscellaneous items were reported stolen.

It is not known if this burglary is connected to the rash of burglaries that have occurred around town in the last year. First centered in to the Gardens neighborhood around Route 22, the burglaries moved to the south side earlier this year to the Shadowlawn neighborhood and other areas near Westfield High School. Two weeks ago, there were two burglaries off of Central Avenue on Connecticut and Massachusetts Streets.

Police have advised residents that the burglaries normally occur when a window or door is left partially open and the burglars have been looking for jewlery and other small items to take from the residence.
