Brief: Westfield Firefighters Respond to Four-Alarm Plainfield Fire

One Westfield firefighter receives minor injuries during blaze.

were among 15 fire departments to respond to a four-alarm fire at a Plainfield apartment complex in the early morning hours of Tuesday.

According to the Westfield FMBA, the department responded to the fire around 1:30 a.m. Firefighters on the scene rescued several residents and there were several injuries, with one of the injured needing to be taken away by helicopter for burn injuries. One Westfield firefighter received minor injuries.

BNN alerts from the early morning hours of Tuesday indicate that the fire was at the Netherwood Garden Apartments on East Front Street in Plainfield.

The FMBA press release indicated that firefighters had to jump out of a window to escape.

Firefighters from Berkeley Heights, Clark , Cranford, Elizabeth, Fanwood, Garwood, Linden, Rahway, Scotch Plains, Summit, North Plainfield, South Plainfield and Piscataway responded to the scene.
