Kara was found at 4:30 p.m yesterday.

Statement from Clark Police Department Alan Scherb:

"The Clark Police Department is pleased to announce that at approximately 4:30 p.m. on October 2, 2012 Kara Alongi was found safe and unharmed. She was discovered by troopers with the New Jersey State Police walking along the side of the Turnpike near Exit 1. As dictated by protocol she was taken to a local hospital in South Jersey for an evaluation. Her family was notified shortly after she was found and they were reunited at the hospital yesterday evening. Kara was transferred to a north Jersey hospital overnight for additional evaluations and was released a short time later and returned home early this morning. The investigation by the Clark Police Department remains active and detectives will seek to determine the teen's whereabouts and methods of transportation over the last 48 hours. Additional information will be released as it becomes available."

Statement from Mayor Sal Bonaccorso:
"I would like to thanks Chief Alan Scherb and all the members of the Clark Police Department, the New Jersey State Police and all the other agencies in New Jersey for the concern and help over the past several days.  I am especially happy that the Alongi family has been reunited with their daughter, and I ask all citizens of Clark and members of the media to respect their privacy in the upcoming days and weeks."

I happened to read kara alongis twitter and most of her tweets were rude and hurtful to others. I saw tweets that said "youre a fat slut so bye" and things of that nature. I am 19 years old and I can tell you right now that if Kara had gone to my high school, she would have never had any friends just because of the way she is treating others. I suppose that if she was having troubles with her friends and that caused her to runaway, it was only because of her own doing. I dont know this girl personally but based off of her twitter, 99 percent of it was extremely unnecessary and rude. I definitely believe that she deserves hard punishment for this. I understand the parents worry but at the same time, if it were my children, after i took a few days to make sure they were okay, they would have consequences and lots of them. You dont just let a person do this and then say "well im just glad youre okay so its fine" NO ITS NOT FINE, you just caused the entire COUNTRY to worry and you need to be punished for it. If there are mental or emotional issues, fix it. But dont EVER let someone like kara get away with what she did.

Did they ever figure out why she did it?

No one probably wants to hear this, but everyone acts like just because shes a teenager she has the mentality of a 5 year old. She was 16 years old, she should have known better than to cause such controversy. Regardless of why she did it, I honestly think she should have serious consequences. There should be an example made of her to hopefully prevent this from occuring again.

@ Stephanie, I agree with you 100%. This young generation thinks they can cause all this worry to their family and have everything be ok. Do not understand any of them these day's and far to many are to quick to blame the parent's when most of these young people are selfish followers or way to immature to look at the problems they bring upon themselves and their parent's.
