Black Sedan Used As Getaway Car in TD Bank Robbery

No weapons were used.

Police have learned that a black sedan provided the getaway for robbers who struck the TD Bank North Avenue branch on Sunday afternoon.

Police are asking for help from anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the Westfield Police Detective Bureau at 908-789-4000.

Initial police reports indicated that the robber(s) made off with $5,700. The police will release a description of the perpetrator(s) as more information becomes available.

Westfield Police Department Captain David Wayman said Sunday evening that the perpetrator(s) passed a teller “a note requesting money."

Wayman said thieves did not display a weapon to bank employees. The robber(s) fled in the black sedan, the getaway car.

The robbery is under investigation by Westfield detectives and was reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which is expected to assist in the investigation.
