Final Day of VBC!

Happy and sad

That’s what we were feeling today as we left at the end of our Everywhere Fun Fair (where God’s World Comes Together) Vacation Bible Camp. We’re happy that we made new friends, learned new things about God and the world around us and helped the group, Camp Helping Hands. And we are sad that our VBC time together for the summer is over.

For our Day 5, we learned that “God welcomes everyone.” (Acts 10:1-43) In Mrs. Nancy Smith’s class we dressed up as strangers and Peter (and an angel!) to act out the story. We reviewed that for being a good neighbor/friend, we need to be friendly, giving, bold, forgiving and welcoming. No matter what people look like or where they come from, we need to be friendly to them because we are all the same inside!

Mexico was the place we “visited” today and some of us made cactuses and others made maracas in crafts class. The older guys made braided lanyards.

In discovery, we did a cool experiment with different liquids that when they were poured on top of each other didn’t mix. It looked kind of like a rainbow in a glass. Mrs. Nancy Testa explained it was density of the liquid (she used the word “viscosity” too). We’ve had great times learning about God’ incredible universe and how things in science are awesome.

Our Christian Education Director Christine Treger (not Interim any more!) walked us downstairs to Assembly Hall where we sang and delivered our offerings to a group that has been sharing space with us all week: Camp Helping Hands. Our “missionary lady” Mrs. Carolyn Fleder has told us about people we could help all week long and today we did that. We gave our new friends packs of construction paper, glue sticks, bottles of bubbles, and packs of crayons and markers we brought in every day. During the week we shared tables with the kids from Helping Hands in doing our crafts and got to know them a little bit. We will miss them and wish them good things.

We got to do a lot of singing this morning (my favorite thing).  We sang to the 44 Helping Hands families. I hope I remember these songs and always show that because I love God I will be a friendly person.

I can’t wait to come back next year AND I want to see if I can join COW (Church on Wednesdays) in the fall as well as Sunday School!
