It has been a very sad week at Westfield High School acknowledged Principal Peter Renwick, as friends and classmates learned of the passing of senior Allison Harth.
Harth, 17, passed away on Monday, Nov. 26 following a long illness.
"She was a wonderful young lady and beloved by many of her peers and staff," Renwick said. "Allie will be missed, but certainly not forgotten."
Friends of Harth have planned a candlelight vigil for 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2 to honor her memory. Renwick, who assisted the students in organizing the tribute, said the vigil will take place in front of WHS.
"Throughout the week, counselors have been available to any student needing to grieve," he added. "We have had many students come down to the Counseling Office and they have met in groups and in private session with counselors. Mr. Buckner, Allie's counselor, has been very supportive of Allie's friends."
During her years at WHS, Harth was a member of the National Honor Society and volleyball team. She also enjoyed playing the saxophone and was an equestrian at Watchung Stables.
Those wishing to honor her memory may do so by making a donation to the Valerie Fund Center of Morristown Medical Center, 100 Madison Ave., Morristown, N.J .07960.
