Obituary Harry A. King, 94

Harry A. King, 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 5, 2014 at Stonebridge at Montgomery. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was raised in Oklahoma City and lived in Westfield, Scotch Plains, Edison and Mesa, AZ before moving to Stockton in 2002.

Harry graduated with a BSME from the Univ. of Oklahoma in 1941. He served 3 years in the South Pacific as a US Army Ordinance officer. After the war, he was a founding partner of Gayle, King, Carr & Lynch, Sales Representatives in NYC, retiring in 1997. He was a longtime communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scotch Plains. Harry was also a member of the Holy Name Society and Republican party. He was an avid golfer playing into his 90's, and a member of the Board of Trustees at Suburban Golf Club.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elizabeth "Betty" King, who died in 2003; his son, Harry A. King, Jr., who died in 1986 and his grandson, Marc von Trapp. He is survived by his son, Kevin King of Chandler, AZ; two daughters, Patricia von Trapp of Waterbury Center, VT and Jeannie Colalillo of Stockton; his sister, Joan King; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be from Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood on Monday, February 10th at 9 A.M. Then to Immaculate Heart of Mary R.C. Church, Scotch Plains, for a funeral Mass at 10 A.M. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield. Calling hours will be Sunday 2-4 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Tee of Plainfield, c/o Plainfield Country Club, P.O. Box 311, Plainfield, NJ 07061-0311.
