The following obituary was provided by Dooley Colonial Funeral home.

Our beloved husband and father, Gi Song “Jerry” Choi, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2014.

Gi Song was born in Korea on March 15, 1937 and immigrated to the United States in 1968. After meeting and marrying his beloved wife of 43 years, Ok Soon, the couple settled in Westfield, NJ in 1974.

Gi Song began his career working as a laboratory technician at St. Michael’s Hospital in Newark moving onto St. Barnabus Hospital in Livingston thereafter. Gi Song retired as an Assistant Laboratory Manager from St. Francis Medical Center in Jersey City in 1996.

Quiet, kind, thoughtful, meticulous, scientific, hard working, with a keen attention to detail were all descriptors of Gi Song’s life and legacy.

Gi Song will be deeply missed by his wife Ok Soon.

He is survived by his sons, Taik and Christopher, his daughter Julie Wolff, and his son-in-law Michael Wolff. Ryan and Meagan, his grandchildren, will forever love and miss their “harabuhjee”.
