Lawrence Foster, of Westfield, Johnson & Johnson Official, Dies at 88

Foster was J&J President of Public Relations during the Tylenol poisonings.


Lawrence Foster, 88, died at his Westfield Home on Oct. 17 after a brief illness.

Foster was Johnson & Johnson official who served as the President of Public Relations of the company during the Tylenol poisonings in the 1980’s, according to the Washington Post. His way of handling the poisonings is often a textbook example of crisis management in Public Relations.

He was a former journalist and editor for the Newark Evening News before joining Johnson & Johnson where he worked for 33 years before retiring in 1990.
