Chemistry Techonologist, Carmina Villarin, of Westfield, Dies at 79

Villarin lived in Westfield for the past 27 years.

Carmina Lopez Villarin, 79, of Westfield passed away on Nov. 11th at Robert Wood Johnson at Rahway surrounded by her loving family.  Friends and family are invited to Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Ave., Westfield on Friday, November 15, 2013 from 9AM to 11:30 AM.  

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon at Holy Trinity Church, Westfield.  Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.  

Mrs. Villarin was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico to Anna and Raymond Lopez.  She was the oldest child and was followed by two brothers, Raymond and Oscar.  Carmina graduated in 1962 from Brooklyn Technical Institute and studied medical and chemical technologies.  She was employed by Maimonides Hospital as a chemistry technologist for 10 years and was a member of the association of American Medical Technologists.

Carmina married Luis A Villarin in 1956 and they lived in Hyde Park, NY for 20 years before moving to Westfield where they have lived for the past 27 years.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking and dancing with her husband and celebrating life with her children and grandchildren.  She particularly enjoyed nurturing children and animals with her infectious love for life.

Mrs. Villarin was predeceased by her two brothers, Oscar (1990) and Raymond (1986) and is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Luis; her devoted children L. Albert Villarin, MD and his fiancée Michelle Walter and Ronald H. Villarin and his wife Marie.  She is also survived by five grandchildren: Colin F. Villarin, Katherine G. Villarin, Connor H. Villarin, Parker J. Villarin and Caroline M. Villarin; three nieces: Diana Lopez Azize, Elizabeth Demkow and Marie Ruiz Barry , her nephew JR Azize and her dog Chase.  Carmina and the Villarin family would like to thank all our family, relatives and friends for being part of her life.  We look forward to remembering Carmina on Friday.
