Passion. It's What's for Dinner at Chez Catherine
As if you needed any more reasons to enjoy a delightful dining experience at Chez Catherine -how about a $100 gift card giveaway!
I have the good fortune of running a really fun social media community called 365 Things To Do In Westfield. As a real estate agent, this is a way I can both connect with and give back to a community I love to work (and play) in. Westfield has a long history. Its residents have deep roots, cultured interests and a desire to support their neighborhood. Flash-back to an era gone by.
Responsibilities in running my social site include giveaways from local businesses. Our current giveaway is a $100 gift card to the ever-popular Chez Catherine, a French culinary classic restaurant with impeccable service and exceptional cuisine. While I was certainly expecting to draw a large amount of local interest, I was surprised at how quickly the entries to the giveaway poured in.
No doubt this is a testament to the ideals of Chez Catherine’s owner, Didier Jouvenet, a native of Lyon, France and the dedicated staff including Maitre d’ Stephane Bocket, Head Chef C.J. Reycraft Jr. and Didier’s wife, Edith, who often welcomes Chez Catherine’s clientele. In their own words, they are nothing without their steadfast patrons who are so devoted to their fine establishment and many of whom have become dear friends. Recently, I got to see first-hand the kind of dedication that emanates inside the walls of this intimate eatery. #Luckyme!

I was invited by Chez Catherine to participate in and promote the creation of one delectable French dessert, Sabayon Aux Fruit Rouges, mastered and prepared table side by the honorable Didier himself. While I savored the presentation and the treat, it was in my sit-down chat with Didier where I discovered that he, and Chez Catherine as a whole, are so much more than a delightful menu of French delicacies which most Americans (ehem.. like me) cannot pronounce.
Beyond my perception of this impeccably dressed, hard-shell, all-business European exterior exists a man who holds such passion and zeal for the quality of his work, that it envelopes all who dine at Chez Catherine. When he speaks of the copper tools he uses to prepare meals, or of rubbing elbows with greats like Jacques Pépin, you just know his culinary fervor runs thick. It is everything he is. And as you sit at a dining table amidst the fresh flowers, crisp linens and traditional setting, you sense this could be Westfield on the Seine. His sense of esteem for you and the meal radiate in every detail. To Didier, it is just as important that you enjoy the Chez Catherine experience as if you were sitting at the dining table in his own home.

Oh, and they were just voted one of the top 25 New Jersey Restaurants by New Jersey Monthly Magazine, and that's pretty special. I was so impressed by their deep passion. I suspect if you dine at Chez Catherine regularly, or for the very first time, you will be too.
Bon Appetite!
