Holiday Happenings in Westfield This Week

Santa Claus train ride, harmonics quartet and more.

Westfield has geared up for the holidays and has several events happening throughout the month of December.

Take a look at what is going this week below.

The 26th Annual Christmas Concert at The Presbyterian Church in Westfield kicks off on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance or $22 at the door. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 732-254-7412.

On Wednesday at noon the First Congregational Church will feature The Kaiser Woodwind Quintet as part of their “Mid-Day Musicales” program. Also at noon is an Advent Worship Service at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Another Advent service will be held at Redeemer at 7 p.m. The First United Methodist Church is hosting a potluck dinner and Advent celebration at 6:30 p.m. also on Wednesday.

The Harmonics Quarter will be performing throughout downtown on Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday are packed with holiday events in Westfield, including visits by Santa and plenty of music.

On Saturday at 9:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m. and 3:14 p.m., Santa Claus train rides will be held at the Westfield Train Station (East Bound Platform) sponsored by Jersey Central Railway Historical Society. The two-hour train ride takes you to Highbridge, NJ along with Santa and Mrs. Claus. The ride features candy canes, coloring books and a Train Set prize (one per car).

At 10 a.m., the First United Methodist Church is hosting a Santa Breakfast for a $6 donation. Bring a camera to grab a picture with Santa.

From 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. the Yuletide Carolers will stroll throughout Lord & Taylor singing Christmas Carol favorites.

On Thursday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., the New Jersey Workshop for the Arts international Alphorn Ensemble will perform throughout downtown. Also throughout downtown is The Watson Highlanders Bagpipe Band.

The WHS Drama Department will perform a condensed version of Dickens “A Christmas Carol” done by Peter Horn of Westfield High School and the Westfield High School Chorale will perform interludes throughout.

Lastly on Saturday evening an Imperial Brass Christmas Concert will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church at 7:30 p.m.


On Sunday, the First Presbyterian Church in Westfield is having a soup and bread lunch following the 10 a.m. worship service.

At noon, a Christmas Festival: Crafts, Games and Luncheon is being held at The First Baptist Church.

“GrooveBarbers” are preforming as part of the “Coffee with a Conscience” series at The First United Methodist Church at 3 p.m. The holiday concert will benefit Greater NJ Sandy Relief. Online admission is $16 for adults, $11 for teens and free for children 12 and under. Visit groovebarbers2.eventbrite.com, Tickets will be $23 for adults and $15 for teens at the door.
