Westfield's Annual Tree Lighting Set for Dec. 1

Santa and Mrs. Claus will also visit Westfield on Thanksgiving weekend for photos.

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, Westfield is nearing its annual tree lighting and photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Between Nov. 29 to Dec. 1, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for photos at Lord & Taylor. Hours are Friday and Saturday 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

On Dec. 1, the Town will host its Tree Lighting at 5:30 p.m. at the North Avenue train station. The Westfield Fire Department will escort Santa and Mrs. Claus with a Westfield Police escort to the tree lighting.

The annual affair is part of the Welcome Home to Westfield events and co-sponsored by the Downtown Westfield Corporation.

“Lord & Taylor has been a terrific partner with us on this event for many years. Together, we have created an annual department store tradition which many families look forward to year after year,” Sherry Cronin, Executive Director of the DWC said. “We also collect over 1,500 pounds of canned food for the Holy Trinity Food Pantry.  It’s a great way to give back to the community. ”

Note: The Girl Scouts will have a collection box set up at the tree lighting for their Annual Mitten Tree Project. Franklin Junior Troop #645 will be collecting new mittens, gloves, hats, scarves and socks for needy families throughout New Jersey. The donations will be distributed as gifts during the holiday season to local charities.

Additional Welcome Home to Westfield holiday events include: Yuletide Carolers, Alphorns, Caroling, Bagpipers, and the Miracle on Elm St. Shopping Spree contest.  Free holiday parking, courtesy of the Town of Westfield, will take place between Dec. 15-Dec. 26.
