Local Film Maker Turns to Crowd Funding to Make Uganda Documentary

Patrick MacDonald of Fanwood started a Go Fund Me campaign to raise $2,500.

A Fanwood man hopes the kindness of strangers on the Internet will help raise the money he needs to travel to Uganda and film a documentary.

Patrick MacDonald is now among the growing trend of people using crowd funding sources like Go Fund Me to raise money for everything from medical bills to a honeymoon to a trip to a cheerleading squad's trip to Orlando.

MacDonald has raised $725 of his campaign goal of $2,500 to cover expenses to travel to Uganda and work on a film about women enslaved in prostitution. He is working in conjunction with the not-for-profit organization Set Her Free that cannot cover his airfare in full and he says any additional money raised will be donated to the organization.
