Expectant Parent Program At Temple Emanu-El

"Oy Vey! We're Having a Baby: Expectant Parents 101" begins in October.

of Westfield will be holding a 5-session series for expectant families called “Oy Vey! We’re Having a Baby: Expectant Parents 101” on Thursday nights from October 4th through November 1st from 7:00-9:00pm. at Temple Emanu-El, 756 East Broad Street, Westfield, N.J.  The fee is $75 per couple.

The interactive workshops will include everything you ever wanted to know about having a baby and becoming a parent in the Jewish community. The sessions will be facilitated by Rabbi Erin Glazer and Jill Cimafonte, Director of Early Childhood Education. Topics include Jewish baby ceremonies and naming rituals, identifying local Jewish resources for young families, and important pregnancy and parenting related issues.

Guest speakers include Hillary Irwin, MS, RD a registered dietician discussing nutrition during pregnancy and beyond, Kim Kiamie, a yoga specialist who will guide couples through thoughtful meditation, Dr. Daniel Hermann, a pediatrician from the Summit Medical Group who will discuss how best to find a pediatrician, and Melissa Cohen, LCSW who will help couples navigate the challenges of transitioning from couplehood to parenthood.

The program is perfect for expectant parents or adoptive parents. Interfaith families and same-sex couples welcome. It is open to the community.
