Westfield Community to Carol for ‘Miracle Man’ Chuck Harcourt

Harcourt was diagnosed with liver Cancer this year and the cancer has spread to his kidney and ribcage.

Chuck Harcourt has overcome many setbacks in his life, including making it out of the World Trade Center bombing in 1993, escaping the Twin Towers on 9/11, a heart attack,  a congenital heart disease, an infectious disease and a stroke. This past Sept. 11, he was faced with devastating news that he had liver cancer.

Harcourt seemed like he could face any challenge that came his way, but this recent diagnosis has proved difficult for both him and his family.  Just weeks after his 51st birthday, his doctor confirmed that he has a very rare form of liver cancer that he most likely contracted from a blood transfusion during his valve replacement surgery following his heart attack.

He and his wife have four children and his wife works part-time at a pre-school so that she can be home the rest of the time to care for them.

Harcourt was also recently told that the cancer has spread to his kidney and ribcage.

Since Harcourt is a former Westfield resident and has family still in town, the Westfield community has decided to carol on Sunday as part of the “Harcourt Angels.”

The “Harcourt Angels” will carol throughout Wetsfield form 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. According to organizer, Maria LoGrippo, eight neighborhoods are already participating, including: Frances Terrace, Wyoming Street, Tudor Oval, Edgar Road, Carlton Road, Woodbrook Circle, Harrison Avenue and Fairacres Ave.

All donations raised will go directly to the Harcourt family.

"Christmas time is about family, love, giving and celebration! The Harcourt Angels event is a perfect way to spread Christmas cheer for the strongest guy I know,” Chuck’s sister-in-law Mari Melao said.

She added that when she was approached by the organizers, Maria and Ali, with the idea for "Harcourt Angels" she was blown away.

“The support of friends and family at this difficult time makes life a little sweeter. I know that my amazing sister Danielle [Chuck’s wife] is eternally grateful for the love and support this event brings," she said. “From the bottom of my heart, thank you Harcourt Angels. Hark the Harcourt Angels sing!"
