Westfield Y Hosts Annual Angel Tree for Children in Need

Members of the Y will provide gifts for children of families in need this holiday season.

The Westfield Area Y is hosting its Annual Angel Tree to help community members in need this holiday season.

Members of the Y will select an angel daily now until Dec. 23.

The “Angel Tree” provides those children in need from the surrounding area with gifts and necessities at holiday time.

“Our member’s annual acts of kindness are truly making a difference and touching the lives of local children within our community,” said Janice A. Carthens, Westfield Area Y Senior Director Member Services & Quality Assurance.

Each angel represents a Christmas wish from a child or a family.  In past years, more than 175 wrapped gifts were collected and dropped off as well as monetary donations to the Y’s Strong Kids Campaign to help children attend camp this summer. All wrapped gifts are delivered to the Plainfield Area YMCA and to families in various Y Child Care programs.
