Project Cookie Box: Girls to Create Upcycled Fashion and Accessories from Castoff Girl Scout Cookie Boxes
Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey (GSHNJ) is the driving force behind this recycled runway event open to Girl Scouts of all ages from across the council which serves girls in Hudson, Essex, Union, Somerset, Hunterdon and parts of Middlesex and Warren counties. Girls will show off their upcycled creations while raising awareness of the Girl Scout leadership experience and environmental stewardship. It is a local Project Runway® with a mission!
The work to design and engineer fashion and accessories for this event encourages girls to express their creativity while reusing empty castoff Girl Scout cookie boxes.
In true Project Runway® fashion, the cardboard creations will be modeled by the designers in front of a panel of guest judges during a fashion show at the Rialto Theater in Westfield, NJ on Sunday, May 5. Entries will be judged based on categories such as creativity, best use, most colorful, most unique, most practical, and most likely to become a fashion item.
