Meet Melissa Stanton, author or My Pen Pal, Santa, Saturday December 7, 2013

What happens when you write to Santa after Christmas?  If
you’re lucky like Ava, the little girl in the children's picture book My Pen Pal, Santa, he writes back! Meet author Melissa Stanton from 2-4 PM.  In a series of monthly letters to and from the North Pole,
Ava asks Santa a lot of questions and she gets lots of answers — about
everything from Santa’s off-season activities to whether he has met the Tooth
Fairy (he has) to how he fits through chimneys. Created for young children to
enjoy on their own or while reading with an adult, every page of My Pen Pal, Santa is a display of
colorful illustrations (by artist Jennifer A. Bell) that give big and small
readers a detailed look inside Santa’s world.

My Pen Pal, Santa, published by Random House, is based on the actual

after-Christmas correspondence between author Melissa Stanton's daughter, Ava,
then six, and Santa Claus. (Check out the "For Adults Only" page at mypenpalsanta.com to learn how that exchange was achieved.) Melissa and her family
lived in Westfield until 2003 and they return often for visits. Melissa is a

former senior editor at Time Inc., where she was on staff at LIFE and People

magazines. Melissa now works as a website editor in Washington, D.C. She lives
with her family in a rural suburb of Annapolis, Maryland.

If you are unable to attend this event, feel free to call
