Jean Avery to perform at Community Center

Renowned jazz, blues and R&B singer Jean Avery will appear at The Westfield Community Center on May 16. Ms. Avery will perform songs from The Great American Songbook and will include classics by Duke Ellington, Sammy Cahn and Stevie Wonder. Ms. Avery was born in Georgia and began singing gospel music at her local church at age three. Over the years she has developed a style that reminds one of a combination of Nancy Wilson and Etta James, with an intimate interpretation of each song and an emotional and profound connection with her audience. Her delivery is precise and elegant. Ms. Avery will be performing two sets starting at 8.00 pm. Admission of $15.00 to the performance includes food. For more info call the center at 908.232.4759.
