War of 1812

Today Friday, November 9, at 7.30pm, the Westfield Historical Society will present historian William Chemerka, who will discuss the War of 1812.

This year marks the bicentennial of the start of the nearly three year struggle that has been described as "America's second war of independence."

Mr. Chemerka is an award-winning educator, writer and lecturer.  He earned nearly 20 teaching awards, was also a multiple honoree of Who's Who Among American Teachers and he has been an on-camera consultant for numerous History Channel productions and was a writer for the Channel's 2004 Emmy-nominated documentary, First Invasion: The War of 1812. The program is free and open to the public. Donations to help support ongoing programs are appreciated. Light refreshments will be served.
