First Congregational Offers Lenten Film, Studies

First Congregational Church of Westfield continues its adult studies series this Lent with two courses focusing on the Lord’s Prayer and the film God in America.  All evenings are free and open to the public.

The annual Lenten film study returns on Tuesday, February 26, with an examination of the 2010 PBS documentary,God in America: How Religious Liberty Shaped America.  The series examines the complex interaction between religion and democracy, the origins of the American concept of religious liberty and the evaluation of that ideal in our political arena.  These themes are explored through stories of the nation’s religious history, and the political and spiritual journey of notable figures.  The series continues on consecutive Tuesday evenings through March 26 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the church’s Chapel Lounge.
