The Choral Art Society of New Jersey, Inc., in conjunction with St. Anne’s RC Church, announces its annual Messiah Sing will take place on Sunday, December 2, 2012, at 3:00 P.M. at St. Anne’s Church, 325 Second Avenue, Garwood, N.J.
The Messiah will be accompanied on the newly renovated pipe organ by James S. Little, organist at Calvary Episcopal Church, Summit, N.J. Please note that this is a Sunday afternoon event, a break from the past tradition of having a Friday evening event.
Martin Sedek, the new Musical Director of the Society, will conduct the beloved Handel oratorio. Audience members are invited to bring scores and join in the singing of the choruses or simply come to listen.
The Messiah Sing, which has become a Westfield area tradition, is an ideal way to kick off the holiday season. Admission to the Messiah Sing is $10 at the door where scores may be borrowed for the evening.
Martin Sedek, educated at Berklee College of Music (B.M) and Montclair State University (M.M), has studied conducting with David Callahan, William Weinert, Craig Hella Johnson, and Heather J. Buchanan. Martin founded and conducted the Berklee Concert Choir in Boston in 2007 and is currently on the choral and theory faculties at Montclair State University’s Cali School of Music, where he serves as Assistant Director of Choral Studies and Visiting Professor of Theory & Aural Skills is in his first season as Musical Director of the Choral Art Society.
