Town-Wide Conference Call Set for 5:30 p.m. Saturday

Call 1-877-228-2184 and enter passcode: 111229

It has been five days since Hurricane Sandy devastated the Town of Westfield and residents and business owners are desperately seeking answers to questions such as: when will power be restored, when will schools re-open and when will roads will passable?

In order to address residents' concerns and offer up-to-date information, there will be a town-wide conference call at 5:30 p.m. today, Saturday, Nov. 3 for all Westfield residents.

To dial in, call 1-877-228-2184 and enter passcode: 111229. This will be a listen only call. Therefore, prior to the call please submit your questions to mayor@westfieldnj.gov.

There will be updates from a PSE&G representative as well as the Westfield Board of Education, Westfield Public Safety, Sentator Tom Kean and Assemblyman Jon Bramnick.

As per Councilman Mark LoGrippo's Facebook page:

"If you would like to hand out flyers to your neighbors in the 3rd Ward with the Conference Bridge information, please come to my house at 130 Tudor Oval starting at 1:30 p.m. Thank you for your assistance."

I know people want to know things, but with the devastation brought about by this storm, it will obviously take time. There is no shortage of food, ShopRite is open so no one will starve. It is only gasoline in short supply at this time. Take this down time to assess what is really important and what can wait until things improve.

Will someone post up a text version after the call plz..
Ed S November 03, 2012 at 06:54 PM
Assess what is important? Downed power lines on Boynton where nothing has been done; a detour on Central where nothing has been done. Don't tell me how fortunate we are; PSE&G wants their bills paid on time--I want my power restored in a timely manner. They have done nothing for Westfield!!

If there is not an official transcript released, I will be recording and transcribing the call. I will send it to the Patch to post.

Utility Restoration Plans for PSE&G, JCP&L and ACE can be found at http://www.nj.gov/governor/news/news/552012/approved/20121103a.html. Westfield ETR 11/03/12 23:59. I hope they can make this happen.

I agree with taxpayer. Most of our homes had no damage and we have food and perhaps even a generator. Be thankful for what you have and stop grumbling about things that you don't. Trucks and workers are all over town and this state, many of whom left their homes in other states to come here to help us
Enough already November 03, 2012 at 08:25 PM
@Ed S: What I see around Westfield are trucks from South Carolina and Illinois with PSEG trucks clearing trees from power lines, putting in new power poles, replacing primary voltage lines, stringing wires from poles to houses and working 14 hour days. In case you haven't noticed, this was a storm of biblical proportions and everyone, not just you, are being inconvenienced in one way or another.

Great resource, thanks Sal...1) Please, if anyone on the call is reading this, please have the PSE&G person explain the spreadsheet, b/c the column headers are incorrect, and 2) You could make a strong case that Westfield and Carteret are the 2 towns with the most work left to do (based on a combo of # of customers out of service, and % of residents out)...gulp! Thanks for having the call, btw, that is good work!

Listened to our leaders and got no answers and timelines. Didn't even address many of the questions they got. And someone should tell the Pseg vp on call that the number he provided either rings busy or no one answers!
Mark Friedman November 03, 2012 at 10:20 PM
You will be able to listen to the call at WestfieldNj.gov in a few hours.
Lauren K November 03, 2012 at 10:27 PM
They won't give a timeline because they can't. If they do, and they don't deliver, then everyone gets pissed. I know it sucks, but that's how they have to do it. Be glad you don't have Pepco, because then you'd be screwed for weeks and weeks.

Thank you Sal!!! I shared it on Facebook!
Geminichic November 03, 2012 at 11:29 PM
Thank you Sal! I hope they can make it happen too!!!

FYI, power came on at around 6 PM near Rahway, south of Edison JHS - still appears to be out for most of town. Anyone know if you can apply to PSE&G for a refund of the facilities (not usage, of course) portion of the bill for the period power was out?
Geminichic November 03, 2012 at 11:55 PM
and donate it to the people that lost everything?
Ed S November 04, 2012 at 12:08 AM
Taxpayer--tell me, where did you see this? Give me streets, because there is mothing by me and I drove around Westfield a number of times today and saw nothing. This is hardly "Biblical"--stop the exaggeration. What is biblical is we may not have power for 40 days and 40 nights
John A. November 04, 2012 at 12:24 AM
anyone know if the two senior citizens buildings on boynton avenue have had power restored?
Ed S November 04, 2012 at 12:35 AM
Glad to see the Atlantic City casinos are up and running--now that is really important
Ed November 04, 2012 at 01:31 AM
Nice job - Skip should consider doing town calls more often and not just after storms.
chcook22 November 04, 2012 at 02:38 AM
Crews from Missouri restored power on Grove St., while crews from Illinois worked on Boulevard, Midwood all day. Shackamaxon now has power also.
CN November 04, 2012 at 02:40 AM
Grateful for all the crews that have traveled to help NJ & NY. Be thankful that you have a house, so many have lost theirs. Be thankful when your power comes back on and you can get a tank of gas.

Westfield up by 23:59 on 11/3. So much for that. 3:41 11/4 still sitting in the dark and cold. Thanks PSEG. Sure hope some heads roll for this.
Zip it November 04, 2012 at 10:06 AM
Read the updated spreadsheet. It's more accurate to the number of people expected to get power back everyday instead of just lumping entire towns together.
