The Week Ahead: Memorial Day Parade and Greek Fest

What's happening in Westfield this week?

Monday:

Opening ceremonies for the annual  will begin at 9 a.m. at the World War I Monument Circle. This year’s tribute will have opening remarks by Peter Hogaboom, Master of Ceremonies. Bob D’Arecca, Chaplain and Membership Chairperson for the American Legion Post 3 will offer the opening prayer and Benediction.

Thehosts a weeklygroup in the church's Jim Cole Room on Tuesday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m. The group is for those searching for work and membership is open to everyone in the Westfield community. The group offers support in the searching for work process and allows for networking and the sharing of job search information.

Register for the Memorial Pool swim team between 5 and 7 p.m. in the Municipal Building Community Room. Registration will continue Wednesday-Friday May 30,31 & June 1 at the Recreation Office between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. For more information, click here.

The  is offering a program for teens where high school-aged members meet each Tuesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m at the agency.

Wednesday:

The Westfield Area Y will host a Senior Day on beginning at 12:30 p.m. at the Main Y Facility, 220 Clark Street in Westfield. The day will consist of several special events taking place at the Y for adults over the age of 55 to celebrate seniors and wellness. This event is free and open to members and non-members. 

Thursday

kicks off its annual today. The festival, which draws thousands from the tri-state area, will run from 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday, May 31 and continue from noon to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 1 and 2. The festival concludes on Sunday, when it will begin after church services at noon and wrap up at 5 p.m. Food and live entertainment make the Fest a fun event for the whole family. 

Friday: 

The  will host its bible study meeting from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

 presents THE “UNDERGROUND” (a.k.a- The Teen Center) on Friday nights. From 7 to 11 p.m., the event is held literally, underground, in the basement of the Municipal Building Recreation Center. Teens can play a game of pool at one of the three pool tables, keep their ping-pong skills in check, play some video games, watch a movie, or listen to their favorite music.
