The Week Ahead: Meetings and More

Monday:

The Board of Health will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building.

The Planning Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building. 

Tuesday:

The GWACC hosts it monthly open networking breakfast at 8 a.m. at Savory Spice Shop. Complimentary hot beverages provided by hosts.  Breakfast treats provided by Casa di Pizza and Bovella's.  Pass business cards and network with current and future GWACC members from the surrounding area.  Every participant gets the opportunity to spend a few minutes sharing about their business with the group. If you have any questions, please contact Jackie Walters at jwalters@westfieldareachamber.com or 908-233-3021.

Jeffrey's of Westfield will host a special guest for dinner on Tuesday, Feb. 5: California-based wine-maker Susie Selby of Selby Winery. The Central Avenue restaurant invites oenophiles to enjoy a more intimate wine tasting experience starting at 7 p.m. Call 908-232-4517 for more information or to make a reservation.

The Westfield Town Council will meet at 8 p.m. at the Municipal Building.

Wednesday: 

NJ Residents for Action to meet at The First Congregational Church in Westfield on Elmer Street at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb 6. All are welcome to attend.

The Cranford & Westfield High School Varsity Hockey teams are bonding together to use their Union County game on Wednesday, February 6th at 8:30pm at Warinaco Park Skating Rink to support an extraordinary young boy. Will DeGregorio, a 3 year old suffering from a rare form of adrenal cancer, is a person very close to both the Westfield and Cranford communities. Will and his mother, Kara Shields, live in Cranford and Kara is a beloved Special Education teacher at Westfield High School. The friendly, local rivalry between the Cougars and Blue Devils will certainly be of secondary concern as we all join together to help this energetic andcourageous little boy.

Tickets to the game will be $10 for adults and $5 for students, with 100%of the proceeds going to Will to help his fight against cancer. There will also be raffle tickets sold for $10 apiece.  Prizes will include Rangers and Devils tickets, NY Knicks tickets, NY Mets tickets and acomplimentary overnight at the New York Marriott Marquis.  Raffle tickets may be purchased in advance at Vicki's Diner in Westfield or from Auguste Mae orthe Rustic Mill in Cranford.  Please come out for the game, buy raffle tickets or make a donation to assist a wonderful little boy in need. Thursday: 

Christopher Academy will host an open house at 7:30 p.m. at its Westfield campus. Christopher Academy serves children from 2 1/2 through First Grade in flexible part time and full time programs. Representatives from both our Scotch Plains and Westfield campus will be present.

Friday: 

The Presbyterian Church in Westfield will host its bible study meeting from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Westfield Recreation presents THE “UNDERGROUND” (a.k.a- The Teen Center) on Friday nights. From 7 to 11 p.m., the event is held literally, underground, in the basement of the Municipal Building Recreation Center. Teens can play a game of pool at one of the three pool tables, keep their ping-pong skills in check, play some video games, watch a movie, or listen to their favorite music.

Contagious Laughter Improv Show: Contagious Laughter will be performing its fundraiser show on Friday, Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m., in Assembly Hall at the Presbyterian Church in Westfield.
