What's happening this week in Westfield?

Monday:

The presents  'The Artist,' winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture. This black-and-white silent films depicts the declining career of a silent-film actor and the flourishing career of a young singer and dancer. It will be shown at 2 and 6:30 p.m. 

The scheduled Board of Adjustment meeting for this evening has been canceled. The next meeting will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 10.

Tuesday:

 continues from 7 to 9 p.m. The following musicians will perform: Jazz Lobsters - Central Ave., Too Blue Lou and the Groove - E. Broad St. & Central Ave., Dave Leonhardt Trio - Elm St., and VooDUDES - North Ave.

Wednesday:

Incoming freshman will have a final chance to report to Westfield High School to receive their computer log-in information and have their ID pictures taken from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. 

Have you ever wanted to drop in and ask a doctor some questions? Throughout the summer, the internal medicine physicians at the Multi-Specialty Practice of Westfield are holding, free lunchtime chats. These chats begin at noon in their office, 560 Springfield Avenue, Suite 101, Westfield.  

“Our practice is new to the community and we want an opportunity to meet and greet our neighbors,” states Peter Pasley, MD.  These free events are open to the community. Attendees are also encouraged to bring questions or suggest topics for the discussion.  If you would like to attend and/or suggest a topic, please call the office at 908-233-8571. Beverages will be provided.

The Westfield Memorial Library presents "Paws to Read," offering children a chance to read to therapy dogs, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Call the library to sign up in advance.

Thursday:

The Westfield Memorial Library presents Walt Disney's 'Bedtime Stories' starring Adam Sandler from 6 to about 7:30 p.m. All ages are welcome. Adults must remain in the room with children age 8 and younger. Adults must remain in building if children are 8 to 10 years old. 

Friday:

Every Friday in August Brooklyn-based children's musician, Kevin Meeker, will be hosting free “Music for Aardvarks” classes at  in Westfield. Reserve your spot Online - Space is limited!! Music for Aardvarks is a musical experience for families with children ages 6 months to 5yrs.

Looking Ahead: 

More than 150 participants are expected to, who was hit by a motorist who fled the scene while she was jogging in Harriman State Park, NY, in mid-July.
