What's Happening This Week in Westfield?

The following is a list of some of the events happening this week.

Monday:

The Westfield Memorial Library is pleased to present the line up for the Winter Foreign Film Festival, which runs from January through March, with all shows on Mondays at 2 and 6:30 p.m. The library is located at 550 East Broad Street. 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' kicks off the series. This English film runs 124 minutes.

Court Appointed Special Advocates will host at information session at 6 p.m. at 300 North Ave. East. There are still 400 children in foster care in Union County without a CASA volunteer to advocate for them! CASA of Union County continually recruits volunteers from all municipalities in the county to represent foster children in the court system.

Tuesday:

The Westfield Memorial Library will be hosting a program titled “Harmony Meditation for Brain Health” on Tuesday, January 15 at 7:00 p.m. This interactive program developed and led by Johwa Choi (aka Master Harmony) provides wise and deep spiritual guidance to individuals, groups, and corporate education programs. It strives to teach participants how to master the brain with time-tested and honored meditation and visualization techniques.

The Westfield Town Council will meet at 8 p.m. at the Municipal Building.

Wednesday:

The Westfield Special Education Committee will host 'How to Prepare for Your Child's IEP' from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Edison School library.

Thursday:

There will be a presentation by FEMA discussing programs for businesses affected by Superstorm Sandy from noon to 1:15 p.m. in the meeting room of the Westfield Library. 

Friday:

Contagious Drama Workshop presents 'A.S.A.P's Fables.' Inspired by Aesop’s Fables, a series of short plays written for the teen students at CDW. Teen- age characters face everyday challenges and dilemmas of the 21st century. As always, the production is humorous, thought provoking and moving. Performances are Friday, Jan. 18th at 8 pm and Saturday, Jan. 19th at 2 pm and 8 pm. Tickets are $5/ students $8/adult/Students come free for the Saturday matinee (just bring a student ID)
