NJAWBO Dinner Meeting: The next dinner meeting of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners(NJAWBO), Metro East Region, will be held on Tuesday, January 29th, between 6:00 and 9: 00p.m., at Stage House, 366 Park Avenue in Scotch Plains, NJ. NJAWBO provides a platform for networking, professional development, and education for women business owners.Goals are “must haves,” within your personal as well as, professional life.

Montessori - Education for Life!: Christopher Academy will begin its 50th year celebration with a workshop on the Montessori method and philosophy on January 29, 2013 at 7:30 at our Westfield campus. We encourage all parents to attend this workshop on how Montessori education differs from traditional education; what are its benefits, and how the child learns “naturally” in the Montessori classroom.

The Westfield Town Council will meet at 8 p.m. at the Municipal Building.

Wednesday:

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Info Session: Come to one of our information sessions to learn about what it means to be a CASA volunteer!

There are still 400 children in foster care in Union County without a CASA volunteer to advocate for them! CASA of Union County continually recruits volunteers from all municipalities in the county to represent foster children in the court system.

We are currently accepting applications for our newest team of CASA Volunteer Candidates. Please join us at an upcoming Orientation to learn about this extraordinary opportunity!!

How the Federal Budget Shapes Social Policy: Todd Mitchell, Chief of Staff for Congressional Representative Leonard Lance, will explain the federal budget process and discuss some of the current challenges faced by our legislators. The program will take place in St. Helen's Meaney Hall at 7:30 pm. Please join us for an inside look at the workings of our government, and learn how you can participate in the process! This event is sponsored by the Peace and Justice Committee of Holy Trinity and St. Helen's.

Thursday: 

This I Believe (Bible Basics 4 part course): “This I Believe”  A 4 week, in-depth study on basic beliefs in the Christian faith so: God, Jesus Christ, Holy Spirit, Salvation through grace, Eternity (heaven-hell), Baptism, the Lord's Supper  Course, beginning Thurs,, January 10 at 7 pm

Friday:

The Presbyterian Church in Westfield will host its bible study meeting from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Westfield Recreation presents THE “UNDERGROUND” (a.k.a- The Teen Center) on Friday nights. From 7 to 11 p.m., the event is held literally, underground, in the basement of the Municipal Building Recreation Center. Teens can play a game of pool at one of the three pool tables, keep their ping-pong skills in check, play some video games, watch a movie, or listen to their favorite music.
