What's Happening This Week in Westfield?

Monday:

BootCampWF goes Indoors @ Surgent’s Westfield: Jan 7-Feb 15. Start time is 5:45 a.m.

The New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners will meet at 8 a.m. at Turning Point. The cost is $20 per person. Workshop: 5 Secrets To Painless Paperwork. Everyone has files. Those with an efficient system are more organized and have less clutter. They have more time to do the things they want to do. Imagine having a simple system that saves you time and simplifies your life.

Wednesday:

'Memories of Old Westfield' will be presented at noon at  Echo Lake Country Club, 515 Springfield Ave. The cost is $21 per person for members and $26 for non-members, including gratuity. Excerpts from the book  “Memories of Old Westfield” by John Henry Frazee will be presented by Bob Miller, the society’s program chairman,  at the First Wednesday Luncheon of the Westfield Historical Society.  

The Westfield Memorial Library is happy to announce that its first Story Slam for the year 2013 will be held at 7 p.m. The library is located at 550 East Broad Street. Story Slams are personal storytelling events that the Library holds on a quarterly basis. The topic for this session is “What’s New?” Participants are invited to tell a willing group of other storytellers and listeners about how they have celebrated the New Year, with resolutions kept or broken, or great memories of New Year’s Eve.

An Evening With Jacques Steinberg will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Westfield High School. Steinberg is the author of  “The Gatekeepers: Inside the Admissions Process of a Premier College,” a New York Times-best seller. The book is reissued for its tenth anniversary, with a new afterword. Mr. Steinberg has been a staff reporter for The New York Times for more than two decades and is currently the newspaper’s senior editor for education initiatives. Mr. Steinberg moderates The Choice, the NY Times’ college admissions blog, which he created for the NYT in spring 2009. Tickets available at the door: $15

Thursday:

GWACC Monthly Open Networking Breakfast will meet at 8 p.m. Bagel Chateau. Complementary coffee and rolls provided by our new member, Bagel Chateau. Pass business cards, network with professionals from the area. Every participant gets the opportunity to spend a few minutes sharing details about their business with the group!

Friday:

The Presbyterian Church in Westfield will host its bible study meeting from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Westfield Recreation presents THE “UNDERGROUND” (a.k.a- The Teen Center) on Friday nights. From 7 to 11 p.m., the event is held literally, underground, in the basement of the Municipal Building Recreation Center. Teens can play a game of pool at one of the three pool tables, keep their ping-pong skills in check, play some video games, watch a movie, or listen to their favorite music.
