What's happening in Westfield this week?

Monday:

located 301 Clark St., is holding a Veterans Day Assembly beginning at 8:20 a.m. Among the celebrations will be the presentation of The Heroes Among Us award to Patrick Boyer.

Help Temple Emanu-El of Westfield feed needy families in Union County. Temple Emanu-El is asking the community to bring frozen turkeys for the Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drive at 756 East Broad Street.  Please bring frozen turkeys in a tied plastic bag, and canned and packaged goods suitable for Thanksgiving (no glass please) to the Temple parking lot during the following dates and times: Monday: 9 - 9:30 a.m.; 2:30 - 3:15 p.m. and Tuesday, November 20 from 9 - 9:30 a.m.; 4 to 7 p.m. The food will be distributed by Yes, We Care Soup Kitchen, The Mandy Reichman Feeding Program and members of Temple Emanu-El of Westfield. Please contact Carolyn Shane, Executive Director, with any questions at 908-232-6770, extension 114, cshane@tewnj.org or visit out website at www.tewnj.org.

Tuesday:

The Presbyterian Church in Westfield hosts a weekly Searching for Work group in the church's Jim Cole Room on Tuesday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m. The group is for those searching for work and membership is open to everyone in the Westfield community. The group offers support in the searching for work process and allows for networking and the sharing of job search information.

Wednesday:

Westfield public schools will have a four-hour session today ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. Check back with Patch for Homecoming information.

Manhattan Bagel will have a Black Friday sale. The shop is selling $100.00 Gift Cards for ONLY $75.00 from 5 a.m. until 9 a.m. Limit of 2 per customer and all sales are CASH ONLY!

Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit Lord & Taylor, 609 North Avenue W. from 1 to 7 p.m. today,Saturday, November 24 from 1 to 7 p.m., and Sunday, November 25 from 1 to 4 p.m. The couple is available for photos and the event is co-sponsored by Downtown Westfield Corporation (DWC) and Lord & Taylor. A free 5 x 7 photo taken by Paul Mecca will be provided with the donation of two cans of food for the Holy Trinity Food Drive/Hurricane Sandy Relief. A nominal shipping charge applies and packages may be purchased on-line within 24-48 hours.

Santa & Mrs. Claus will depart from Lord & Taylor and ride the fire truck for the Annual Tree Lighting at 5:30 p.m. at the North Avenue Train Station.
