If you're not feeling festive just yet, don't worry. There are ample opportunities this weekend to get in the holiday spirit.
Saturday, Dec. 3
Need some decorating inspiration? home tour is sponsored by the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage offices in Westfield and Maplewood. Tour festivally-decorated homes from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets sales benefit the Continuo Arts Foundation.
'An Elf's Story' creator will visit from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to meet visitors and talk with them about co-writing and co-producing the movie that is based on the beloved 'Elf on the Shelf' holiday tradition.
Haven't told Santa what you're hoping for this year? He'll be in town starting at 11 a.m. when he arrives at . From there, Mr. Claus will pop over to from noon to 1 p.m. where he'll visit with children and parents. A free goodie bag is included with the two-course pre fixe lunch.
At 2:30 head over to Westminster Hall at the Presbyterian Church of Westfield for a by the Westfield School of Dance. In its first holiday performance, the school will present 'The Steadfast Tin Soldier, A Story Ballet' adapted from the Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale. The performance is free to the public. In lieu of ticket sales, guests are asked to bring an item to fulfill the “Wish List” of The Ronald McDonald House located in New Brunswick.
The merriment continues as the presents 'Home for the Holidays,' its second annual holiday concert. The WSO, under the direction of Maestro David Wroe, will be joined by 80 voices from the Concert Choir and Bella Cora.
Sunday, Dec. 4
It's at the Miller Cory House starting at 1:30 p.m. During the program, children will make a gingerbread house and one additional craft to take home and will hear stories about this sweet treat. Light refreshments will be served. Space is limited; advance reservations must be made no later than noon on Friday, Dec. 2 by calling the museum at 908-232-1776.
The community is invited to a Holiday Concert and Sing Along at as part of the Woman's Club of Westfield's Holiday Fundraiser for Gilda's Club. The School Glee Club will provide the entertainment. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children. Baked goods will be on sale.
The Presbyterian Church of Westfield will present a from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. A petting zoo, caroling and refreshments will be included in the festive afternoon that takes place on the front lawn.
Those who feel like giving back this season can donate non-perishable food items and personal hygiene products at . The collection, which will continue through Dec. 18, will be donated to the Holy Trinity Food Pantry, which serves all of Union County.
