Westfield Remembers War Dead

Westfield's Memorial Day parade and ceremonies occurred on May 25 with hundreds turning out to remember deceased war veterans. The day kicked off with a solemn ceremony in front of the World War I memorial in downtown, featuring patriotic musical selections and speeches. Led by Grand Marshal Dick Koski, local scouts, service organizations, veterans and the Westfield High School band paraded along East Broad Street to Fairview Cemetary. Following the parade, the Mountainside Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter led a somber ceremony honoring veterans buried in the cemetary.
