The holiday season has arrived in Westfield. Throngs of children and adults gathered on the north side lawn of the train station Sunday night for the lighting of the 2009 town Christmas Tree.

Following a musical performance by the community band, Santa and Mrs. Claus delighted the children with an arrival by fire truck. Joining Mayor Andy Skibitsky on stage, the holiday couple helped the mayor light the tree after delivering brief remarks to the crowd. Children then flocked the stage to tell Santa what they wanted for Christmas.

The tree lighting was sponsored by the Downtown Westfield Corporation.
