New Boutique Offers Wide Array of Unique Items

A look at what is going on About Town.

It’s back to the daily grind here in town. Sports, school, meetings and like. Spring break is over and the final push has come for the school year. Spring sports are underway here in town and everyone is busy!

My family and I had the chance to get away last week to St. Thomas to enjoy spring break and get in some quality relaxation. Joel, Max, Lily and I had a great and relaxing time on the beach. Our oldest son, Jake, could not make it because he had to stay behind for high school lacrosse and we missed him. But luckily my parents live here in town, so Jake was able to stay with them for the week.

I hope everyone had as great a spring break as we did!

NEW PLACE FOR HANDBAGS

Find out what's happening in Westfieldwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

I was on my Monday morning walk, along East Broad Street, with friends the other week when I came across a new store, Ellvie, Looking in the window at all of the awesome handbags, I knew I had to come back to check it out. I did come back and I was pleasantly surprised.

Located at 15 East Broad Street, the store is great news for women who are not teenagers but still want to dress and look good without dressing the same as our daughters!

Owned and operated by Ellen Menlow and Vicki Halper, Ellvie is very open and inviting. Bags line the wall and clothes are displayed nicely throughout. The middle of the store is cozy and inviting with comfy chairs to lounge or if you just want to chat with friends.

Ellen and Vicki have been in retail for 30 years and joined together to open the Westfield location. The store aims to provide fashionable clothing to women, ranging from trendy high fashion to casual comfortable clothes.

There is an amazing selection of handbags, which are exclusive to the shop. These are bags that you won't find in department stores. They are unique, one of a kind ranging from totes to evening. The handbags are either genuine leather or fabric. They represent a cross section of styles that represent trends of today.

The jewelry and accessories are fun and fashionable at reasonable prices.  After buying your outfit- there's no need to go elsewhere- you can pick out your accessories all at once. Some of the accessories that are available are scarves, belts, wallets, gift items and even wine accessories.

"There's never been a better time than now to buy- Clothes and accessories are being made based on what women want- Functionality is enormous ,” Menlow said.

I believe this store will do great in Westfield- I have constantly heard that a lot of the stores are too trendy or too young for a lot of women- this store is geared towards looking fun, fabulous, fashionable and most of all appropriate.

After my initial visit- I left with some cute bangels and a necklace- next visit- an awesome leather cross-over bag!!  I think I need to pace myself!

GET BETTER ROY

Last week there was a tragedy here in town, with a at the Hamilton House Apartments. The fire seriously injured Roy Rentrop, a friend of mine, and I wanted to send my best out to him. He’s at St. Barnabas Hospital in the burn ICU and I am pulling for him.

The fire is a real tragedy and my heart not only goes out to Roy but to everyone who ended up homeless from the fire. I hope that everything works out for everyone.

CHECK OUT THE CANDIDATES

It’s that time of year again, Board of Education election time! The annual BOE candidates’ debate is coming up on Wednesday night at the high school and it’s a great way for you to check out who is running. There are seven active candidates this year running for three seats and the debate will allow you the chance to hear what they have to say.

Remember to vote on April 27.
