Ladies, Merchants Celebrate Girls' Night Out in Westfield

This biannual event attracted women from 110 different towns, according to Downtown Westfield Corporation executive director Sherry Cronin.

The  fifth biannual Girls’ Night Out, sponsored by the Downtown Westfield Corporation on April 18, was a blast, despite dreary weather. While shopping, women enjoyed complimentary refreshments, discounted prices, and live music.

GNO gives stores in Westfield the opportunity to promote their business and products. Said Executive Director of the Downtown Westfield Corporation Sherry Cronin, “We want to hear the registers ringing!” GNO has become increasingly popular over the years. Said Cronin, “The first GNO was in 2010 and it wasn’t as big of an event. This year (the event) attracted people from 110 different towns.”

Participants checked in at Turning Point, where pre-registrants received a special gift from the Downtown Westfield Corporation and recently-opened boutique Jude Connally. The DWC also provided a map of downtown Westfield with a list of all the participating businesses and the promotions offered, making it easier to plan the best shopping route. “The event is great publicity because people can try some of the products we make,” said Chad Ciferri of Savory Spice Shop.
