Five Things You Need to Know for Feb. 28, 2011

Five things going on today.

1) The Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a networking breakfast at Turning Point from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The cost for members is $10 and non-members $15.

2) The Raritan Valley Rail Coalition is holding a general meeting at 8:30 a.m. in the Council Chamber of the Municipal Building. The meeting will include a presentation by a staff member from U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) on the new proposal for a third train tunnel under the Hudson River.

3) The young professionals group at St. Helen's Church will be hosting a Justice Cafe at 7:30 p.m. at Rockn' Joes. The discussion is Migration of People.

4) Staff members from U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg's office will be hosting outreach office hours from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Union County Courthouse on Broad Street in Elizabeth.

5) Today is the 150th anniversary of Colorado being organized as a U.S. territory, the 76th anniversary of the invention of nylon, the 20th anniversary of the end of the Gulf War and the 18th anniversary of the start of the stand-off at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, TX.
