Williams Nursery in Westfield is participating in the Trees for Troops program that lets you buy a Christmas tree for a military family. Nationally, the program is expected to provide more than 17,000 free trees.

The program began Friday and ends Sunday. Trees can be purchased at the nursery or through Williams' Web site, www.radkoshop.com.

"We are very excited to be a part of this program," said David Williams, partner at Williams Nursery, "Also, for every tree that a consumer purchases, we will contribute $5 to the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation, which implements the Trees for Troops program and other programs for kids, families and the environment."

Trees for Troops began in 2005 when FedEx, which donates the shipping of the trees, and the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation provided 4,300 Christmas trees to military families at five bases in the U.S. and overseas. Since 2005, CSF and FedEx have delivered over 34,000 trees to 17 countries.
