BOE to Hold Final Bond Referendum Meeting Before Vote

The Westfield Board of Education will hold its final public meeting regarding the $16.9 million bond referendum at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19 in the Roosevelt School auditorium.

Westfield residents will have an opportunity to vote on the referendum, which would finance two separate multi-million dollar capital projects, on Monday, Sept. 24. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. 

Since the Board’s decision in June to include funding for both district roof repairs and a lighted turf field installation as a single bond proposal, the public has voiced strong opinions both for and against the referendum.

As part of last week's regularly scheduled BOE meeting, members of the public addressed the Board on the bond issue and had most of their questions answered adequately by its members or a team of experts on hand. 

In August, the Westfield Public School District created a new website, www.westfieldnjk12.org/bond2012, to inform residents of the upcoming bond referendum. At the last BOE meeting, schools superintendent Dr. Margaret Dolan encouraged the public to read the information that is available and participate in Monday's vote.
