Batten Down the Hatches! Rough Weather Ahead Today

The National Weather Service predicts hazardous weather and has issued a wind advisory for Union County.

Gusty winds —including the potential for an isolated tornado — and heavy rain resulting in flash flooding could plague Union County this afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS predicts a chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18.

The chance of precipitation is 80%, with new rainfall amounts between a quarter and half an inch possible.

A wind advisory is in effect from noon to midnight.

The heavy rainfall could produce isolated flash flooding. The NWS predicts local severe storms with damaging wind gusts and a possble isolated tornado. The time of greatest impact looks to be from late afternoon into evening.
