Turning Point Tops Readers' Choice Poll

The Central Avenue restaurant was chosen as the best place to take Mom for a Mother's Day brunch.

Even though Mother's Day is a little more than a week away, it's never too soon to start thinking about how to make Mom's day special.

This week, Patch asked readers to vote on their favorite spot to take their moms to brunch and came out on top.

The 4,000-square foot Central Avenue eatery, opened in 2011, offers breakfast and lunch and boasts two fireplaces as well as a laptop lounge with free Wifi.

So, what makes the restaurant special enough for Mom? Kirk Ruoff, founder of Turning Point, explained how the brunch destination plans to treat moms right on their big day.

"Mother's Day is a special day for us at the Turning Point," Ruoff said. "As a special thank you to all the moms, we will be giving away a beautiful logo coffee mug filled with a special sweet treat to the first 100 moms who dine with us. (One per table.)"

Ruoff also shared some of the philosophes that he and his staff feel are essential to running a successful restaurant:

* Serve creative breakfast and lunch meals using the freshest ingredients. Prepare these meals consistently using recipes made from scratch

* Provide service to our customers that exceeds their expectations. Special requests are always welcome. If we can do it, we will.

* Maintain an atmosphere that is clean, comfortable and relaxing for our guests during their busy day.

* The best compliment we receive is a customer who says, "We'll be back."

With six other locations in Brick, Hoboken, Holmdel, Little Silver, Long Branch, and Manalapan, Ruoff noted that, in addition to taking good care of moms, the restaurant is also happy to help non-profit organizations who are looking for fund-raising assistance.

"The Westfield location was an instant success from the start," he said. "This is one of our busiest restaurants and we have established a nice steady business of regular customers. We are looking forward to many more years to come and truly becoming a part of the Westfield community."

On Mother's Day, Turning Point be honoring a first-come, first-served seating policy. Unfortunately, no reservations or call aheads will be taken.
