South Avenue Parking Pay Station Installed

Progress continues on streetscape project.

The new parking pay stations for South Avenue have been installed but are not operational.

The pay stations are a part of the streetscape project for South Avenue. Councilman Mark Ciarrocca announced on Wednesday night that the pay stations will become fully operational when the street project is completed. These stations will include the 10 minute free parking for patrons.

The streetscape project is designed to bring South Avenue in line with the northside business district. The first phase of the project included new sidewalks and curbing on both sides of the street. Other phases include the new pay stations for parking and new decorative streetlamps.

The project also included the redesign of the exit of the train station parking lot at the intersection of South Avenue and Boulevard. The exit will now be right turn only, with the exit redesigned to only permit that use. Last week, the Council passed an ordinance designating the exit for that use only.

Ciarrocca said the parking spots have been striped out and marked on South Avenue as a part of the project. He said from a parking perspective, the project is complete.
